Time Out Ten
Day Of Rest
from the Joy Ellis album
Peaceful Place
For this item you need to be able to stop for ten minutes.
We are often moving on to the next job, the next meeting, scrolling down social media, taking the next call ......'Time Out Ten' asks you to stop for ten minutes and listen to a particular piece of music; to find a time when you won't be interrupted, when you can put in/on your headphones and chill out. Ten minutes isn't long.
Do you have a peaceful place? Your garden? Somewhere at home? A nearby park? Somewhere you can go at work? Should you find a peaceful place, somewhere you can go just for a short time?

UK pianist and vocalist Joy Ellis has recently been touring with her trio - Henrik Jensen (double bass) and Adam Osmianski (drums) to share her new album Peaceful Place. This, her third album, features Joy’s compositions reflecting on a turbulent and difficult year.
Joy says: “Moving through the pandemic I felt there were no words I could sing to capture the grief and sense of loss that I and other people I know had experienced. Therefore I decided to compose an album with no vocals at all using my other instrument and first love, the piano.”

We only take ten minutes for our Time Out Ten session, but here is the track Day Of Rest from Joy's album. It seems to encapsulate what Joy is saying, a mixture of peace from the piano and double bass and a reflection of turbulance from Adam Osmianski's drums.
So see if you can find a peaceful place for just ten mintues and listen to Day Of Rest here.
